We request that you complete the patient forms that are relevant to the reason for your first office visit. These are found in the New Patient Center section on the home page. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information related to your condition.
You will have a consultation with Dr. Michael Barry to discuss your current condition and any other health-related problems and concerns, as well as potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Dr. Barry to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, Dr. Barry will perform a complete examination related to your specific condition and any other health concerns. This often includes a postural assessment, spinal flexibility/stability evaluation, and orthopedic and neuroloical testing.
Depending on your specific condition, we may elect to perform an x-ray examination of the area of concern. Radiographs are most frequently employed to provide additional details regarding biomechanics and other aspects of your condition that can only be identified using procedures that look inside your body. This will assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you, or determine if additional advanced imaging or referral to another health care professional is necessary.
After your exam, you can choose to experience your first treatment.
This may include spinal adjustment, physical therapy, acupuncture and/or massage.
Treatment is interactive, so you can feel free to express your
preference regarding a specific style of treatment at any time. If you
are in pain when you first come into our office, you may receive
recommendations for home care, such as the use of ice or heat, and
avoidance of certain activities or position.
First Visit Conclusion
At the conclusion of your first visit, Dr. Barry will briefly discuss the best strategy to alleviate your symptoms as quickly as possible and will schedule a follow-up appointment, if needed. If a longer treatment course is needed or if your condition requires additional diagnostic procedures that aren't performed in our office, those topics will be discussed at this time. If your condition requires referral to another health care professional, we will happily assist you in finding a qualified facility.
